It’s really no longer news that you can’t go about downloading media anyhow you like on an iPhone. So, most of the time, you can stream media from third party sources (like YouTube), but it would be tough to get these contents onto your iPhone.
Therefore, downloading videos from YouTube to your iPhone would be difficult, but there is a workaround for it. Most iPhone users would make do with the fact that there is way around it, and that is why this post would be highlighting the steps for their benefit.

Steps to downloading videos from YouTube to iPhone
The first thing to understand is that you’d need an application to be able to download videos from YouTube, and while most iOS apps can’t download videos from the internet (even if they wanted), there is one such app that can allow you do it.
It’s called Documents by Readdle, and it’s apparently a file managing app. This app is important in your quest to download videos from YouTube, and that’s because it has an in-app browser.
Find your way to the YouTube video you wish to download, and copy its link (you can do that by clicking on Share, and then select Copy Link).
Once the link is copied, head back to the Documents app; access its built-in browser (Just click on the icon located at the bottom-right corner), and browse any website that can download YouTube videos – like BitDownloader.
On the website, paste the YouTube link you copied (in a field that says Enter the Video Link) and tap the Download button.
Wait a few minutes for the site to generate download links for your videos; once that’s done, scroll down (past all the ads) until you see Download without Sound. Tap on the Download button (next to the quality you’d like to save the video in) and get it going.
Once the video has been downloaded, you’d have to move it to your Camera Roll folder. Tap on the Folder icon in the bottom-right corner of the app, and open the Download folder (where you can find the video you just downloaded).
Move the file from there to your Photos folder (just tap on that ellipse shaped icon under the file and choose Move. Locate your Photos folder, and Move to Photos.
And that’s just about it; you would now have your downloaded video appearing in your Photos, as well as in the Videos folder on the Album tab.

You’d need to access an online video downloader, through the in-app browser of Documents (the file manager app you’re required to download), from there, all you just have to do is to copy and paste the YouTube video link and download it in any quality you want.
Simple! You can use the app Documents by Readdle.
In the post above, you’d find the steps to downloading YouTube videos for your iPhone.
Technically, jailbreaking would make the process of downloading YouTube videos easier, but other steps (such as the ones discussed above) would do the job just as well.
Most notably, Documents is one good app to do the work for you. However, if you can find other good file managers, with built-in browsers, in the App Store, then they’d work too.
